I just received the email with the most important information.... our flights. It is time to get ready to go the trip is really happening. We have been through so much in the last 2 years and to finally get the opportunity to bring some (now former) students to see the world is exciting. I'm excited as I will be experiencing London and Barcelona for the first time as well. My wife will be joining us and Paris is on her bucket list so as upset as she was when I did my training in Paris in 2019, now she will be able to experience some of the magic of that find city and she will get an opportunity to practice her Spanish in Barcelona as well.
Our journey will begin of course here in Honolulu as we jump on a flight to Seattle. This is where our real journey begins with our direct flight to London. We will land around 1pm London time and hit the ground running (ok more walking) with a tour of the city before we check in to our hotel. We will spend a few days in London before making our way through the Chunnel (Channel Tunnel) to Paris. We will explore The Louvre, Eifel Tower, Champs Élysées, and what I'm most looking forward to the Palace of Versailles. After a few days we will jump on the train to head to Barcelona where I am excited to visit Park Güell and La Sagrada Familia.
I wish I could tell how excited the students are as I don't see them in school. But my countdown has sparked some interest with my current students. It seems when I have talked about this exciting opportunity in the past my students were tuning me out. Either because with the pandemic they didn't think it would happen or because they thought it would in some way be connected to the boring Math that I teach. Boring to them of course not for me. I am rejuvenated in my attempt to make this program flourish. With many things getting back to pre-pandemic "normal" I feel like we can put in the full effort to plan our next destination.
